Tuesday, June 1, 2010

eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, and wife Pam, established Omidyar Network based on their conviction that every person has the power to make a difference. As a philanthropic investment firm, Omidyar Network supports innovative market-based approaches across industry sectors with the potential to make large-scale, catalytic and sustainable impact.

Learn how the Omidyar Network's investing style transcends typical boundaries that separate for-profit investing and traditional philanthropy, and why it invests in for-profit companies as well as awarding grants to nonprofit organizations.

Hear from Matt Halprin, former vice president at eBay as well as the Boston Consulting Group, who leads Omidyar's investments in technologies that promote openness, accountability and trust across media, markets and government.

In the spirit of community, collaboration, and entrepreneurialism, Warren Gilson bequeathed a significant gift to the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) in 2002. The gift was dedicated to nurturing the exchange of ideas between the university and small businesses, and to support entrepreneurialism in Wisconsin. Beginning in 2005, WARF has hosted a series of events in Gilson's name to bring together the university with the larger Madison community.
