Grants

Support sustains university competitiveness

WARF’s careful stewardship ensures significant support for the university through an annual base grant, department and laboratory shares and special allocations in other key areas.

The base grant is administered by the Graduate School and has grown over the years. It supports initiatives focused on faculty recruitment and retention, the Fall Research Committee Competition and efforts to attract highly qualified graduate students. The money also helps secure federal research grants, which often require a commitment of matching funds.

A Commitment to Excellence 2007–2014

Through its base grant to the Graduate School, fellowships and endowment for excellence grant, WARF's support for UW–Madison remains strong. The totals above exclude lab and department share totals, which are determined by annual licensing revenues and typically fluctuate from year to year.
