MADISON, Wis.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Intraband, a mid-infrared laser manufacturer, announces an exclusive licensing agreement with the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) covering high reliability and power per chip Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) technologies. The WARF patents cover proven methods for consistently achieving industry leading optical-power emission at mid-infrared wavelengths from a single semiconductor chip using Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD).

“The breakthrough design developed by Professors Dan Botez and Luke Mawst enables next-generation quantum cascade lasers that are more reliable and efficient than conventional quantum cascade lasers,” said Erik Iverson, WARF’s Managing Director. “We’re excited to partner with Intraband to advance this technology.”

These devices are used for applications from missile-avoidance systems to medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, plastics manufacturing and more. Rob Marsland, Intraband’s President, commented, “I am thrilled with how WARF and Intraband have been able to work together on this patent portfolio and look to working with WARF even more in the future as Intraband pursues its commercialization strategy focused on saving lives and improving the environment.”
