WiSys Board of Trustees

Erik Iverson, managing director of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), has joined the WiSys Board of Trustees. Iverson brings decades of executive experience leading organizations and programs committed to entrepreneurial efforts that positively impact people worldwide. He also brings a shared interest in the mutually beneficial partnership between WARF and WiSys.

“We are excited to have Erik join the Board of Trustees to build on the great collaboration between WiSys and WARF in supporting innovation throughout the state in the spirit of the Wisconsin idea,” WiSys President Arjun Sanga said.

This partnership will work in harmony with the new WiSys Strategic Plan to improve the ways WiSys serves its member institutions.

Iverson joined WARF in July 2016 after serving as President, Business & Operations for the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) in Seattle. Prior to IDRI, Iverson was hired as the first attorney dedicated to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s global health and agricultural programs. He played a lead role in building the Global Health Program as Associate General Counsel.

“We are delighted to have Erik Iverson join the WiSys board,” WiSys Board Chair David Ward said. “Erik continues the strong support that WARF has given to WiSys to further research and patents at our UW comprehensive universities.”

Iverson fills a seat left open by Leigh Cagan, who served the WiSys Board of Trustees from October 2014 to October 2017. Cagan is WARF’s chief technology commercialization officer.
