The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation is seeking commercial partners interested in cDNAs that encode the human and mouse homologs of the Drosophila calcium-activated potassium channel (BK) gene.
OVERVIEWCalcium-activated potassium channels are a type of ion channel that is important in many physiological processes.
THE INVENTIONUW-Madison researchers have isolated cDNAs encoding the human and mouse homologs of the Drosophila calcium-activated potassium channel (BK) gene, called slowpoke. These cDNAs can be incorporated into different vectors for expression in cell lines or in Xenopus oocytes.
APPLICATIONS
  • Screening for modulators of calcium-activated potassium channels
