The Invention

A UW-Madison researcher has developed a rat model for studying the dynamic nature of the protein Tau, a protein implicated in numerous neurological diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The model involves inserting the HaloTag detectable technology into the gene encoding the Tau protein. This fusion provides a means of monitoring the expression and movement of Tau in vivo and ex vivo.
