The Invention
UW-Madison researchers have developed a new opportunistic screening tool that automatically finds the trabecular bone structure of the L1 vertebral body and makes a measurement, correcting for potential misplacement of the ROI. This measured CT number value has been shown to be strongly predictive of various risks such as hip fractures or osteoporosis.
