METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ASSESSING RISK OF HIP FRACTURE
WARF: P250401US01

The Invention

UW-Madison researchers have developed an automated assessment model to predict risk of hip fracture using quantitative measurements extracted from a CT scan. The method uses segmented regions of the patient's anatomy from imaging data and applies them to a multifactor model that can be unique for men and women. This can be leveraged to assess patient frailty and risk for future adverse outcomes, generally outperforming all traditional clinical methods, which are onerous and often not obtained in routine practice.
