The Invention
Building off their earlier work with LC-infused multilayer films, the inventors developed a method for directly infusing LCs into porous PTFE membranes.  The resulting materials have desirable characteristics, including anti-fouling behavior as well as the ability to sense, discriminate between, and report on the presence of environmental analytes, including bacterial toxins.
