MICROWAVE ABLATION ANTENNA WITH BIDIRECTIONAL PLANAR TISSUE HEATING
WARF: P230304US01

Inventors: Christopher Brace

The Invention

A UW-Madison researcher has created a novel microwave antenna design that provides preferential heating in two opposing directions to provide increased heating in one plane and decreased heating in an orthogonal plane. The antenna can be constructed from coaxial cable without a shielding device used in prior directional designs. The antenna operation is facilitated by layered dielectric materials and axial slits along the length of an otherwise closed coaxial cable.
