Cannabis Traits Through Genetic Engineering and Editing - Badger PMR Line
WARF: P250072US02
Inventors: Michael Petersen, Shawn Kaeppler, Ray Collier, Lucas Gontijo Silva Maia, Xinhua Wang
The Invention
A UW-Madison researcher has created a set of genetically modified cannabis lines that display different phenotypes of interest including increasing cannabinoids, decreasing cannabinoids but increasing terpenes and flavonoids, increasing fiber strength, and adding resistance to powdery mildew. These traits could be useful commercially and could either be re-engineered into proprietary cannabis lines or could be used in the cannabis plant background used at UW-Madison.
