Katie Gold: Aerial Potato Disease Detection with Hyperspectral Systems

Disease is one of the greatest threats to specialty crop production worldwide and expected to intensify with climate change. Advanced field, aerial and satellite-based methods of disease detection that can identify infection before the onset of visual symptoms would greatly improve management by reducing disease potential and spread. An interdisciplinary team has harnessed this phenomenon to provide real-time, presymptomatic late blight detection in potato.
