Access to freshwater is becoming an increasingly critical issue. More than two thirds of the world’s population lives in regions of freshwater scarcity for part of the year. Identifying novel technologies that can complement or outperform existing seawater desalination methods is imperative. This talk will present a strategy that couples the storage and release of salt ions with the storage and release of energy.
