Recyclable Protein Degraders Could Boost Cancer Immunotherapy – 2025 Innovation Award Nominee

Quanyin Hu, assistant professor of pharmacy, and postdoctoral researcher Peixin Liu have developed McR-TACs, a new class of protein degrader that targets disease-related proteins on and outside cells. These degraders are recycled by cells after breaking down target proteins, meaning fewer doses may be needed to maintain treatment effects. Tested in cancer cell models, this approach could improve immunotherapy treatments by making them more durable and effective.
