The Invention
UW-Madison researchers have developed cell lines that possess the pathogenic mutations associated with LCA16 and Best disease. These cells can be used to test CRISPR-based therapies to determine editing efficiency of different lots of therapeutic materials and can be used to determine dose needed for efficacy. Prior to the creation of these cell lines, patient cells had to be used to test the CRISPR therapeutics.
