The Invention
UW-Madison researchers have developed a rat, male breast cancer organoid model. They found hormone-responsive August Copenhagen Irish (ACI) rats develop tumors after treatment with both 17β-estradiol and medroxyprogesterone acetate. They excised the tumors from the rats, cultured cells, and can grow the tumor cells in 2D and 3D culture.
