Mouse Model of Alexander Disease (Model B6.129S7 (Cg) Gfap tm2Mes)
WARF: P220167US01

Inventors: Albee Messing, Tracy Hagemann

The Invention
UW-Madison researchers have developed a mouse model of Alexander disease, designated B6.129S7 (Cg) Gfap tm2Mes, that was engineered as a knock-in of the R236H point mutation in the Gfap gene; this is a missense mutation (‘targeted mutation 2’) homologous to those found in humans, in a B6 mouse background. This is the same mutation as in FVB.129S7 (Cg) Gfap tm2Mes (P220165) but that one is in an FVB background.
